Week Zero "2PC Top-10" NFL Power Rankings
Each week, the 2PC staff ranks their top teams in the NFL. It's combined and released as the 2PC Top-10.
The NFL season is less than a week away, believe it or not - and we’re very excited to be rolling out our new weekly series, the “2PC Top-10”.
Each week, the 2PC team is going to rank their top-15 teams. The average of those rankings will be compiled, and the top-10 of those averages will be included in this article.
Dylan Jackson, Jacob Lequire, Stephen Sears, Chandler Gallimore, Akil Guruparan, Evan Campos, and Colt McManis contributed to this post.
1. Philadelphia Eagles
*4 first-place votes
The reigning Super Bowl champions come in at first on our inaugural rankings. The Eagles maintained their core group of players through the offseason - and while they did lose Milton Williams, Josh Sweat, and Darius Slay - they should have enough young pieces to stave off any regression.
2. Baltimore Ravens
*2 first-place votes
The Baltimore Ravens have arguably the most talent of any team outside of Philadelphia - along with a perennial MVP candidate in Lamar Jackson. In our season predictions roundtable, five of six contributors chose this Ravens team to win the Super Bowl. While the playoff success has not been there in the current Baltimore era, the talent has - which is what the staff is betting on here.
3. Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills have built through the trenches over the past few seasons. Last season delivered Buffalo an MVP season from quarterback Josh Allen, despite not having any receiver with more than 850 yards. General manager Brandon Beane has been adamant about adding talent to the defense, and the Bills have been knocking on the door of a Super Bowl appearance for years now.
4. Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs are a surprising fourth place in our preseason rankings - despite having made three straight Super Bowls. Between an aging core and reliance on rookies making an instant impact, the Chiefs core is shakier than it has been in past years. Still, Patrick Mahomes is, well… Patrick Mahomes.
5. Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions have one of the most talented rosters in football. By all accounts, this team was one of the two best teams in the NFC a year ago. There is some overall skepticism about losing both coordinators - Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson - to head coaching gigs. That said, it’s hard to do better in terms of star power - Amon-Ra St. Brown, Penei Sewell, Jahmyr Gibbs, Brian Branch, and Aidan Hutchinson will give any coach a fighting chance.
6. Green Bay Packers
Editor’s note: These rankings were made prior to the Micah Parsons trade.
The team is very bullish on what the Green Bay Packers could be in 2025. There are very few holes on the roster, and the Pack gave their uber-talented quarterback an exciting young weapon at receiver in Matthew Golden. Defensively, Jeff Hafley turned this unit around last season and now gets to utilize one of the best players in the league in Micah Parsons.
7. Washington Commanders
Nobody expected Washington to make it all the way to the NFC Championship game last season - but there is overwhelming confidence that Jayden Daniels is a franchise-changing quarterback. Outside of him is an aging core, but investments in the offensive line and weapons department for 2025 should keep Washington as a strong playoff contender.
8. San Francisco 49ers
Despite an underwhelming 2024 by all accounts, the San Francisco 49ers should be back on track this season. The team gets back 2023 MVP candidate Christian McCaffrey and has one of the easiest schedules in the NFL. While San Francisco has gotten the preseason injury bug this year (with Brandon Aiyuk, Malik Mustafa, and several more starters with injury designations for week one), there is more optimism than skepticism for 2025.
9. Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings 2025 fate lies in the hands of JJ McCarthy. There have been notable improvements to key areas of this roster in the offseason - most notably the interior offensive and defensive lines with Donovan Jackson, Ryan Kelly, Will Fries, Jonathan Allen, and Javon Hargrave.
10. Houston Texans
It’s been a shaky offseason for the Houston Texans - the team replaced offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik with Nick Caley, re-made their offensive line, and has suffered a few setbacks in terms of injuries (Joe Mixon, Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, Denico Autry). CJ Stroud, though, has shown resilience through the past season, and his talent, combined with a highly talented receiving room, should make for a high-powered offense. And as for the defensive unit, the expectation is that Will Anderson & Danielle Hunter should lead the Texans defense to a top-10 ranking by the end of the season.
First One Out: Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos have arguably the most talented defense of any team in the NFL - Pat Surtain, Zach Allen, Nik Bonitto, Talanoa Hufanga, and Dre Greenlaw. Offensively, the offensive line has been one of the best units in the NFL, and we should expect some progression from Bo Nix with upgrades at skill positions: RJ Harvey, Evan Engram, Pat Bryant, and more.
