Week 9 2PC Top 10 Power Rankings
How do the best teams stack up at the halfway point of the season?
At this point, we all know the drill. With almost half of the season under our belt, there is a general consensus about which teams stand alone at the top. However, there was a small movement near the latter half of the Top 10, as there will be every week. Let’s take a look at how the Two Point Conversion staff has ranked the Top 10 teams going into Week 9.
1. Indianapolis Colts (Last Week: 1)
Last Result: Beat Tennessee Titans, 38-14
Indy is at the top once again. While routing the Titans, Jonathan Taylor collected another 3-touchdown performance, bringing his season total to 14 scores. This team is firing on all cylinders and will take a monumental string of losses to be dethroned from this spot.
2. Detroit Lions (LW: 2)
Last Result: Idle, Beat Tampa Bay Buccaneers 24-9 in Week 7
Even with a bye week, nobody in the NFC was able to take the top spot from Detroit. With a stacked roster and the brain drain period over, Detroit will likely remain near the top for most of the season.
3. Philadelphia Eagles (LW: 3)
Last Result: Beat New York Giants, 38-20
It took a while, but the Eagles are back in their Super Bowl form. Multiple touchdowns from Saquon Barkley and Dallas Goedert may dampen any offensive concerns for this group. Philly should be locked near the top down the stretch if they continue to play like this.
4. Green Bay Packers (LW: 5)
Last Result: Beat Pittsburgh Steelers, 35-25
The Packers capped off National Tight End Day with a monster performance from Tucker Kraft on Sunday Night Football. If this team just plays their game, they might be the best team in the league.
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (LW: 3)
Last Result: Beat New Orleans Saints, 23-3
Tampa Bay was beating the Saints so badly that they had to switch quarterbacks at halftime. Tampa walks into their bye week with a win, and the Saints will get to see how Tyler Shough performs the rest of the way.
6. Kansas City Chiefs (LW: 7)
Last Result: Beat Washington Commanders, 28-7
After a rough 0-2 start to the season, the Chiefs look like they’re ready to waltz into another Super Bowl run. This week against Buffalo will be a big test, but after that, Kansas City has the opportunity to take advantage of a weaker schedule.
7. Buffalo Bills (LW: First Team Out)
Last Result: Beat Carolina Panthers, 40-9
Defeating the Panthers without Bryce Young has the Bills surging up the rankings. If James Cook plays the way he did in Carolina, this offense will be hard to stop later in the season.
8. New England Patriots (LW: 9)
Last Result: Beat Cleveland Browns, 32-13
There may not be a quarterback playing better than Drake Maye right now. Defeating the hapless Browns has the Patriots at 6-2 and first place in the AFC East. Is it too early, or is Drake Maye reviving the Patriots dynasty of old?
9. Los Angeles Rams (LW: 6)
Last Result: Idle, Beat Jacksonville Jaguars (London) in Week 7, 35-7
Another victim of the bye week stagnation was the LA Rams, who, despite playing quite well recently, fell three spots in our rankings. With Puka Nacua hopefully back to full strength, this team should be a problem to deal with on offense.
10. Los Angeles Chargers (LW: Not Ranked)
Last Result: Beat Minnesota Vikings, 37-10
A strong Thursday Night Football win has the Chargers back in the Top 10. If Herbert gets back to his top form, this Chargers team will be a force to be reckoned with (as long as they avoid the all-yellow uniforms).
First Team Out: Seattle Seahawks (LW: 8)
Last Result: Idle, Beat Houston Texans in Week 7, 27-19
Like the Rams, recency bias has pushed Seattle down the totem pole. However, with their strong defense and offense that can generate explosive plays with ease, expect to see the Seahawks back near the top soon.
Dropped Out: San Francisco (9)
