Week 5 "2PC Top-10" NFL Power Rankings
A group of two at the top has formed - including the reigning Super Bowl Champions.
With a variety of notable matchups this past week, our Top-10 Rankings have shifted more than most previous weeks. This comes in addition to the top-2 teams in our rankings both being unanimous decisions among our staff.
And thanks to a tie on Sunday Night Football, our faith in the Green Bay Packers has shaken just a little bit more.
Let’s get into the rankings.
1. Philadelphia Eagles (Last Week: 1)
Last Result: Beat Buccaneers, 31-25
The Philadelphia Eagles have delivered in every matchup so far this season. They’ve beaten three 2024 playoff teams through four weeks (all of which have been featured in our Top-10 list this year at some point).
This past week was no different. The craziest part about Sunday’s result? Philadelphia didn’t even complete a pass in the second half of the game. That just goes to show how loaded this Eagles team is with talent.
They should by all means be considered the Super Bowl favorite.
2. Buffalo Bills (Last Week: 2)
Last Result: Beat Saints, 31-19
The Buffalo Bills were probably more nervous going into the fourth quarter against the Saints than they were likely anticipating - but they were still able to pull away a victory (despite the score not being as close as the game felt, really).
The Bills are led by one of the best running games and offensive lines in football - as well as the most recent MVP winner in Josh Allen.
I think it’s safe to say that Buffalo is going to be locked into the top-2 for a while with a 4-0 record to date, and an upcoming schedule that features the Patriots, Falcons, and Panthers - it’s the easy part of the schedule.
3. Detroit Lions (Last Week: 4)
Last Result: Beat Browns, 34-10
The Detroit Lions look to be kicking into high gear after a lackluster start in Green Bay to open the season. The offense remains electric with new offensive coordinator John Morton, and defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard has been pulling inspiration from Steve Spagnuolo.
4. Green Bay Packers (Last Week: 3)
Last Result: Tied Cowboys, 40-all
Well, that was weird.
The Packers lacked any sense of aggression in their final drive against the Cowboys - almost seeming as though they were playing for a tie. But that doesn’t halt the enthusiasm we have for this Green Bay team.
There may not be a more exciting team to watch in the NFL currently than Green Bay - with stars on both sides of the field and a passing offense that has every skill set imaginable catching passes from Jordan Love.
5. Los Angeles Chargers (Last Week: 5)
Last Result: Lost to Giants, 21-18
Despite the disappointing result to the Jaxson Dart-led New York Giants in Week 3, we’re still maintaining the excitement we have about the LA Chargers and what they’ve accomplished so far this season.
With rookie RB Omarion Hampton coming around and WR Quentin Johnston looking like a Pro Bowler, this offense is in full gear - despite the loss of Joe Alt on Sunday.
The loss to New York seemed more like a flash in the pan than an indictment on this Chargers team. Though we will have a closer eye on this team’s matchup against the Washington Commanders on Sunday.
6. Kansas City Chiefs (Last Week: 9)
Last Result: Beat Ravens, 37-20
The Chiefs were able to take advantage of a floundering Ravens team, and has propelled themselves to be the top 2-2 team in our top-10 ranking.
The addition of Xavier Worthy meant a ton to this offense as he contributed in a major way. Travis Kelce turned back the clock a little bit, as well.
The Chiefs are getting back to their normal selves after a 0-2 start to the season, but they’ve got a matchup against the intriguing 3-1 Jaguars on Monday Night Football this week that they’ll have to take care of to earn a winning record.
7. Los Angeles Rams (Last Week: 10)
Last Result: Beat Colts, 27-20
The Los Angeles Rams might have the best player in football right now with Puka Nacua - he had 170 yards and a touchdown against a Colts team that’s actually performed incredibly well so far this season.
The Rams have a matchup against the Mac Jones-led 49ers on Thursday Night Football - so the goal will be to continue their momentum early this season.
8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Last Week: 7)
Last Result: Lost to Eagles, 31-25
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been competitive in every game so far this season, and nearly came back to beat the Eagles this past week.
Things might be tough in the near future - with Baker Mayfield’s activity this week being monitored, as is Bucky Irving. Though Emeka Egbuka has been awesome through the first quarter of the season, the injuries are starting to stack.
9. Pittsburgh Steelers (Last Week: NR)
Last Result: Beat Vikings 24-21
The Pittsburgh Steelers look like they’ve really got something in the Aaron Rodgers-DK Metcalf connection. And while that pair has connected quite a bit, this pass rushing unit still looks like it has the juice.
The Steelers should, by all means, be the favorites in the AFC North at this point - and after their bye week, three of their next five games are against teams on this Top-10 list: Packers, Colts, Chargers.
10. Indianapolis Colts (Last Week: 8)
Last Result: Lost to Rams, 27-20
The Indianapolis Colts were one AD Mitchell goal-line fumble away from winning this game, and unfortunately that wasn’t his only touchdown-negating mistake in the game, either.
But regardless, this Colts team certainly looked the part against a Rams team that looks to be a playoff contender. Even though it’s a loss, Indy looked as though it belonged on this list.
First One Out: Seattle Seahawks (Last Week: NR)
Last Result: Beat Cardinals 23-20
The Seattle Seahawks were criticized pretty heavily for the Geno Smith for Sam Darnold swap they made this past offseason, but it has worked wonders so far. Darnold looks the part of a needle-moving quarterback, and the surrounding talent in both the weapons department and defensive infrastructure is that of a team that can make some real noise come January.
The Seahawks have their biggest test of the season so far on Sunday with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
