Week 2 "2PC Top-10" NFL Power Rankings
After a weird and exciting first week of games, here is where the 2PC Top-10 stands prior to Week 2.
The first week of the NFL season, as it always does, confirmed some priors and wholly rejected some others, and there are even a bunch more things that we just don’t really know about yet. Still, we’ve at least (finally) put eyes on what every team in the NFL looks like in 2025, and that has to mean something. As a result, there are some changes in our staff’s combined power rankings going into Week 2:
1. Philadelphia Eagles (Last Week: 1)
The defending champions were nearly unanimous picks at the top of the league last week. After struggling more than expected to put away Dallas, they may be showing some warts, but they pulled out a tough win and are still probably the most feared team in the league: especially if A.J. Brown becomes a threat again.
2. Buffalo Bills (Last Week: 3)
The much-anticipated matchup between the Bills and Baltimore Ravens delivered on every level, with the Bills pulling off a furious, 16-point fourth-quarter rally to get the win. For 15 minutes of game time, this team looked simply undeniable on both sides of the ball.
3. Green Bay Packers (Last Week: 6)
Micah Parsons made an immediate impact with his new team, absolutely wrecking the Lions’ offense when he was on the field even when up against All-Pro tackle Penei Sewell. The Packers appear to be every bit the Super Bowl contenders that some thought the Parsons trade might make them.
4. Baltimore Ravens (Last Week: 2)
They might be 0-1, but after 45 minutes, it looked like the Ravens were going to absolutely rout the Bills. The Baltimore defense started slowly last year as well, and our staff is betting that history repeats itself, talent wins out, and that this team is still who we thought they were.
5. Kansas City Chiefs (Last Week: 4)
Another losing team cracks our top 5 anyways. There’s a lot that’s weird about a Friday night game played in Brazil, so there are some built-in excuses, and we saw a few more vintage Patrick Mahomes moments than we tended to last year. Even with yet another wide receiver injury, our staff believes that a real playmaking Mahomes is worth a whole lot in these rankings.
6. Denver Broncos (Last Week: NR)
Bo Nix may have had his struggles against a better-than-you-think Titans defense, but the Broncos’ defense is as good as advertised and the skill position talent was more than enough to buoy him. This team seems to have more room for error than just about any other in the league.
7. Los Angeles Chargers (Last Week: NR)
The Rashawn Slater injury could have been absolutely devastating for this offense, but Joe Alt’s seamless transition from right to left tackle helped Justin Herbert have an all-timer of a game in primetime. I don’t know how sustainable a Quentin Johnston two-touchdown game will be over the course of the season, but this looked like a team that’s going to make a run at winning maybe the toughest division in the sport.
8. Washington Commanders (Last Week: 8)
You don’t learn a lot about a team from a comfortable romp against a hapless opponent, which is what we saw with the Commanders against the ghost of Russell Wilson and the New York Giants. Jacory Croskey-Merritt looks like a legitimate solution to their run game needing more than just Jayden Daniels, though, which could stave off a significant amount of the regression concerns.
9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Last Week: NR)
The Bucs struggled more than expected with divisional rivals Atlanta, but as they always seem to do, they pulled out the win. Rookie receiver Emeka Egbuka looked like a star immediately, and the defense allowed a lot of yards but bowed up when it needed to. They have to cut down on penalties, however.
10. Los Angeles Rams (Last Week: NR)
It was a slugfest, but the Rams made just enough plays to pull out a win against Houston. You expect a veteran team like this one to be able to quickly correct the things that they just missed on in Week 1, especially as Matthew Stafford gets more reintegrated into the operations.
First One Out: Detroit Lions (Last Week: 5)
There’s still some trust among our staff in this team, but Detroit didn’t just lose to Green Bay - they looked outclassed. Week 2, another divisional matchup, will provide some answers as to if those were just early-season jitters or real signs of concern, especially in a run game that was completely bottled up.
