Week 12 2PC Top 10 Rankings
Which teams find themselves at the top of the league now that playoff races have begun?
Now that we are 2/3 of the way through the NFL regular season, many teams and fans have their eyes on what will happen in January. Teams like the Colts have traded for players to up the odds of a deep playoff run. Others, like the Jets, have their eyes on college football and Tankathon’s weekly draft order updates. One thing is for sure - the top of the league has separated itself from the rest. Let’s take a look at which teams have the full backing of the Two-Point Conversion staff.
1. Los Angeles Rams (Last Week: 2)
Last Result: Beat Seattle Seahawks, 21-19
The Seahawks/Rams matchup was billed as the two best teams in the NFC battling for division standings, and it did not disappoint. Between the defensive prowess shown by Chris Shula’s unit and Matthew Stafford playing like an MVP candidate, the Rams are the real deal.
2. Philadelphia Eagles (LW: 1)
Last Result: Beat Detroit Lions, 16-9
It may not have been pretty, but the Eagles secured another win over one of the NFC’s most talented groups. While this isn’t the team that obliterated everyone last season, the Eagles are quietly 8-2 and in sole position to win the NFC East. Don’t sleep on another deep playoff run.
3. Seattle Seahawks (LW: 3)
Last Result: Lost to LA Rams, 21-19
While the Seahawks did leave LA with a loss, it’s hard to knock them for keeping it close with the best team in the league. The biggest takeaway from this contest was the fact that this team was still competitive despite the four (4) interceptions thrown by Sam Darnold. If Darnold can take better care of the ball against the best teams in the NFL, Seattle has a case to make a run in January.
4. Indianapolis Colts (LW: 4)
Last Result: Idle, Beat Atlanta Falcons 31-25 in Week 10
Indy’s bye week probably couldn’t have come at a better time. Following their win in Europe, the Colts rested on their laurels, giving Jonathan Taylor and Daniel Jones a chance to rest before their eventual playoff run. This bye week also gives time for new DB Sauce Gardner to continue to become acquainted with his new defensive scheme.
5. New England Patriots (LW: 6)
Last Result: Beat New York Jets, 27-14
Put some respect on the Patriots. Yes, I know that they have hardly played against winning teams, but this group continues to dominate every week. No quarterback is playing more completely than Drake Maye, plain and simple. This team is a few wins away from taking the AFC East crown back and maybe rekindling the greatest dynasty the NFL has ever seen.
6. Buffalo Bills (LW: 7)
Last Result: Beat Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 44-32
After a high-scoring affair against one of the NFC’s most potent offenses, the Bills push themselves back toward the top of the list. While Buffalo has had a bit of a rocky season, Josh Allen’s six (6) touchdown performance has the team back on track. The Patriots will have a tough task ahead of them to fully secure the division when these two teams meet again.
7. Denver Broncos (LW: Not Ranked)
Last Result: Beat Kansas City Chiefs, 22-19
Denver might have just done the impossible: dethroned the Mahomes/Reid era Chiefs in the AFC West. After a close-fought win, Denver now sits at 9-2, tied for first in the NFL. Despite this record, there is still some slight hesitation in just how good the offense can be. Whether it’s Bo Nix, Sean Payton, or a combination of both, something has to improve for this team to be Super Bowl-caliber.
8. Green Bay Packers (LW: 11/First Team Out)
Last Result: Beat New York Giants, 27-20
Jameis Winston’s Giants gave this team a scare, but eventually the Packers were able to pull off a win. This outcome may have been costly, however, as both Jordan Love and Josh Jacobs missed time during the game. For the Packers to get back to the top of the list, both players will have to have clean bills of health down the stretch.
9. Detroit Lions (LW: 5)
Last Result: Lost to Philadelphia Eagles, 16-9
Losing in such a way to the Eagles will never be a good look for a team that’s trying to make it to the big game. The bad news for this team: they are now third in the division standings. The good news: Jared Goff plays indoors in every single remaining regular-season game.
10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (LW: 10)
Last Result: Lost to Buffalo Bills, 44-32
A poor defensive effort has the Bucs only half a game ahead of the Carolina Panthers (!) for the NFC South lead. While Tampa Bay has a significantly easier remaining schedule than the Cardiac Cats, the defense and overall health of the team will have to improve to be the overwhelming favorites to capture their fifth consecutive division title.
First Team Out: Los Angeles Chargers (LW: 9)
Last Result: Lost to Jacksonville Jaguars, 35-6
Who are the LA Chargers? This is a team that is 7-4, has a commanding lead over the Chiefs for 2nd in the division, and should have the talent to hang with everyone. In spite of this, the Chargers will still present you with losses like the one they incurred on Sunday. While they may technically be a playoff team, the Chargers have a lot to prove and improve upon to avoid the embarrassing playoff losses they’ve dealt with over the last few seasons.
Dropped Out: Kansas City Chiefs (8)
